Prohibition- The stopping/prohibiting of the sale and consumption of alcohol or liquor.

Saloon- nicer bars, typically slightly more expensive

Woman’s Christian Temperance Union (WCTU)- Led by Frances Willard and saw drinking as destructive to values of society

Anti Saloon League- Primarily protestant group in favor of ending all drinking. They wanted national prohibition, very focused on political/lobbying front

United States Brewers Association (USBA)- a group strongly opposed to prohibition, composed of bar and saloon owners
6.
Eighteenth Amendment- Banned the manufacturing, distribution, and sale of alcohol
7.
Carrie A. Nation- Carried a hatchet and would come in to destroy saloons with it.
